With the release of The Golden Compass today (12-07-07), many Christians are looking for the truth behind this controversial movie. Adapted from the first book in a trilogy written by Philip Pullman, a self-described atheist, Compass has been accused of being anti-Catholic and pro-atheism. But how concerned should we be about the power of the film?

I have only seen comments concerning the movie (since it has not been shown). However, the book that it came from and its author are definitely not of God as I understand it. Even though the movie is perhaps tuned down somewhat from it’s atheistic origins, I honestly believe that if it is well accepted, another will come out which will be ‘mush more daring’. Then another perhaps after that. Similar to what they did with ‘Lord of the Rings’ and the other one (I don’t rmember the name even as I never saw any of them).
Regardless, if it becomes a ‘serial’ as such, each one will bash Christianity and put forth the agenda of atheism. As such, I do not believe it to be good viewing for adults let alone children.
